Children’s festival greets families staying in town

Families opting out of packing up their campers and staking their weekend territory in the wilderness this May long weekend can make their way down to the Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Centre on May 19 for the Cochrane Children’s Festival.

Public hearing to address a trifecta of bylaws

The Town of Cochrane will discuss a slew of proposed amendments to existing bylaws at a June 4 public hearing.

The first of the three bylaws, discussed during council’s May 14 meeting, is to address the issue of exterior displays for downtown businesses, mainly what they see as the town’s restrictive policy with regards to them.

Cochrane player in on huge upset

Cochrane’s Brandon Harrison, and Shawnigan Lake School, served up a big helping of upset at the recent Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament in Fukuoka, Japan.

Harrison, 15, and Shawnigan Lake of Vancouver Island defeated top-seeded Kelston Boys High School from New Zealand 17-15 in a preliminary-round match.
