When Red Deer College first began serving central Alberta 53 years ago, our founders were visionaries who wanted to ensure our College would always continue growing to serve the needs of central Albertans. Today, we're proud to keep their vision alive, as RDC is expanding – with new programs and new facilities – to best serve our students and our communities. At RDC, we offer small class sizes and practical learning that prepares graduates for successful lives and careers. Learners can choose from over 100 programs, and our expert instructors are committed to helping students succeed.

The foundation of our success comes from the teaching and learning that happens at the College. But student learning doesn't just happen in the classrooms. Through practicums and applied learning opportunities, students have the chance to develop real-world skills while still in school.

This fall, we will launch the new Instrumentation Engineering Technology Diploma program, where students will learn about design, installation and maintenance of industry control systems, helping them to gain employment in this sought-after industry. Students will learn in theoretical and hands-on environments, establishing a solid foundation in fundamental courses, as well as courses tailored to help them develop skillsets that employers require.

RDC will launch another new program in the fall, with the Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate. This innovative program, which is currently exclusive to Red Deer College, is a 12-month certificate offered in a flexible delivery format, with a mix of online learning and four executive weekends at RDC's downtown campus. Graduates will have the knowledge and practical skills to work as human resources professionals in a variety of settings, and the program will also prepare learners for the Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation.

In the fall of 2018, RDC is proposing two new applied degrees, pending government approval: the Bachelor of Applied Animation & Visual Effects and the Bachelor of Applied Film, Theatre & Live Entertainment. These cutting-edge programs will provide the perfect complement to the existing selection of programs, courses and delivery methods we offer. With everything from Apprenticeship programs to certificates, diplomas to applied and collaborative degrees, Red Deer College is here to help students pursue their chosen career paths.

As students gain their education through the diverse programming at RDC, they will also learn in state-of-the-art facilities. In the fall of 2018, our new facility, the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris, will open its doors to learners. This dynamic teaching and learning facility has been carefully designed to enhance opportunities for our students, providing even more ways to get applied, real-world learning that positions them for successful futures and careers.

The new Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre will also be home to RDC's championship-winning Kings and Queens student-athletes. And, during the 2019 Canada Winter Games, it will be an important component when the city of Red Deer hosts elite young athletes from across Canada. Our new facility will be a competition venture for five sports, and the entire College will be teeming with athletes, coaches, guests and personnel as the community hosts this exciting national event.

At RDC, we provide opportunities for students to thrive in their programs and in their personal lives, too. RDC offers safe, inclusive campuses where everyone fits right in. With dynamic recreational and cultural activities to participate in and enjoy– as well as the wide variety of opportunities in the connected community of Red Deer – students can learn and grow professionally and personally during their time at RDC.
