June trial date set for Flames prospect

A June 24 trial date has been set for a Calgary Flames prospect who was charged with assault following a bar fight at Cochraneís Stageline Saloon on July 29.
Michael Ferland, 20, was charged one week after a man was knocked unconscious during an altercation outside the bar. The trial will be held in Calgary.
Ferland is from Brandon, Man. He was the Flamesí fifth round choice in the 2010 National Hockey League draft. He is in his rookie season with the Flamesí American Hockey League affiliate in Abbotsford, B.C.
