Dear Editor:

Let’s talk facts.

After all the talk about transit this week I thought I would take this opportunity to present some facts and then my reason on why I don’t support transit at this time.

The current proposal has us operating transit from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A total of 14 hours a day combined. The regional buses have a cost of $750,000 with a life cycle of 12 years and the community shuttles are $160,000 and a life cycle of eight years. (more…)

Dear Editor:

As the holiday season gets underway, I would like to take the time to remind each and every one of us the implications of driving under the influence of alcohol.

As a professional firefighter, I see the devastating impacts first hand. It is one of the most difficult parts of my job. Sadly, research shows that the instances of drinking and driving deaths spike during the holidays. Let this be a compelling reminder for us all. (more…)
