Cancelled last year for lack of entrants, the Cochrane Outhouse Races were back with a vengeance Sept. 24.

“It was awesome,” said event organizer Karrie Peace.

Sixteen teams competed in the men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.

Similar to chuckwagon races, competitors start by circling a pylon, racing to the end of the block, making a turn around another pylon then racing back to the finish.

Legendary Calgary Stampede chuckwagon announcer Joe Carbury called the action. (more…)

The Eagle apologizes for the error and wants to recognize Cochrane Search and Rescue workers for the amazing work that they do, as well as all search and rescue workers in the area. (more…)

Wee Jackie Weighs In

Once again a tip of the toque to Karrie Peace and her mighty crew of volunteers for the best Outhouse Races EVER.

It was a great event Sept. 24 with 16 entries — the most ever — many of them with incredible themes — the best ever — and a huge crowd — the best ever.

Already plans are underway for next year but a special tip of the toque to all who helped in anyway and there were many but a special one is Jager Homes.
