Cochrane’s Trinity Taekwon-Do Club came away from the March 19 Calgary Regional Tournament in Strathmore with 14 medals.

“It was a really successful tournament in many ways,” said instructor Cam Macdonald.

“I think my students took to it really well.”

Macdonald explained regionals are designed to offer participants a smaller-sized tournament to get some competitive practice before bigger events such as the Western Canadian Championships taking place in Jasper May 14.

“(It’s) not only earning medals but getting people excited for future and bigger events,” Macdonald said.

Lynda Blazina, Brianna Clark-Farmer, Ryshon Blazina, Parker Link, Micah Peacock, Christian Blazina, Mark Egan, Amanda Madson, Zoe Cinnamon, Jacob Mate, Owen Stalkvold, Nathan Peacock, Walker Milbury, Lance Madson and Gavin Wade all competed in the tournament.

The Cochrane club earned one gold, five silver and eight bronze medals in total.
