Pride of Cochrane

As the annual Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby canvas auction draws near March 31, a local initiative to grab Cochrane driver Grant Profit’s chuckwagon tarp for eight days of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth is looking to finish strong.

So far the Pride of Cochrane has managed to raise more than $45,000, which will be matched by the Town of Cochrane for $50,000.

“We are 95 per cent sold out,” said Pride of Cochrane supporter Alex Baum of Cochrane Toyota of the $50,000 goal. “It’s a chance to come together as a community and say, ‘We are proud.’”

Also, Baum said Travel Alberta will be involved in promoting the initiative as a way of highlighting the Cochrane community.

Pride of Cochrane will also have a booth at the May 7-8 Cochrane Trade Show where people can come out and meet the Profits. For more information visit cochrane-tourism.ca/pride.
