Cochrane Sustainability Plan

Big thinkers have until Nov. 15 to submit a sustainability project idea to Cochrane’s Sustainable Partners Uniting Resources (SPUR) group for its Bull Pen contest.

Inspired by the popular Canadian television show Dragon’s Den, the Bull Pen competition aims to get individuals in the community thinking as SPUR continues it dedication to implementing the Cochrane Sustainability Plan, a community project started in 2008.

All Cochrane-area organizations, businesses and individuals are invited to apply for the chance to be given up to $15,000 to fund their sustainability project.

Applications that are deemed worthy of the Bull Pen will be invited to AC’s Restaurant the evening of Nov. 19, where they will be required to make a short pitch to a panel of judges and those gathered in the audience.

The success of a pitch will be based on numerous criteria, including creativity and its ability to engage individuals.

SPUR promises the Bull Pen will be far less daunting than its televised inspiration.

For more information about the contest or SPUR’s other initiatives, contact 403-932-1427 or e-mail info@cochranesustainability.ca.
