Cochrane’s public library could be forced to reduce its services if funding for the coming year falls short of paying for operating costs.

Rocky View County plans to audit current debt load

Rocky View County will investigate the amount of risk the municipality took when it borrowed money to build water and wastewater systems to service Balzac.

Downtown snow ridges cause problems

A Cochrane resident says ridges left by snow plows on downtown’s sidewalks are an inconvenience to all, and particularly to those who are physically challenged.

“It’s all over town and can be dangerous,” said Joy Sorensen, who works downtown.

County closes sewage debate

After allowing Bragg Creek residents to speak against and in support of the location for a wastewater treatment plant, a councillor representing the area said a final decision had to be made.

Canada World Youth volunteers headed for Peru

After spending three months in Cochrane volunteering with local businesses and events, 18 Canada World Youth (CWY) are headed to Peru for the second half of their journey.

The CWY program allows youths aged 15-25 to experience other communities and cultures around the world.

Youths from across Canada and Peru came to Cochrane and volunteered both in town and in Morley. (more…)

Tight management and an active search for upper government grants have allowed the Town of Cochrane to finance infrastructure needed for new developments without borrowing or taxing.
