Randy Pace has a hard time even being in  Cochrane.

He has been sick since August and he blames a reaction to certain hydrocarbons from the remediation of the former-Domtar site.

Symptoms for a hydrocarbon sensitivity can include  headaches, burning eyes, nausea, nose bleeds, the inability to focus, vertigo, chest pains and a surrealistic sensation (more…)

Public forum to provide closer look at Cochrane town council hopefuls

With the Oct. 18 municipal election coming up, the Cochrane Settlement Community Association (CSCA) will be holding  a candidates forum Oct. 3.

As government-matched donations come to an end Oct. 3 for relief in Pakistan, a Cochrane couple is looking to help create more long-term stability in the northern region of the country beseiged by flood.

Bragg Creek native earns keep in L.A. music industry

Five years ago, Bragg Creek native Shawn Everett packed his belongings into his car and moved to Los Angeles in search of work as a sound engineer.

Woman puts knitting skills to work for African orphans

Karen Packer

Karen Packer’s mother taught her to knit when she was a young girl.

Today, Packer is using that skill to raise money for Grandmothers of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Cochranite of 10 years knits dishcloths for the Calgary group Ujamaa Grandmas, a branch of the Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. (more…)

Eleven-year-old Keenan James admits hockey is on his mind most of the time.

So naturally, one of the Grade 6 student’s favourite activities each week is taking part in the Manachaban Middle School Hockey Program.

Korean rink aims for Olympics with Cochrane coach

When the Korean women’s curling team comes to Canada to train, they’re doing so under the watchful eye of Cochrane’s Doug Campbell.

Campbell comes from a long line of curlers and says he was born in a curling rink.
