Bow Valley High School didn’t have to look far for a new principal.

Rob Kimura, currently the school’s assistant principal, will take over for Susan Poole effective Aug. 26.

Poole is slated to move across town to become principal at Cochrane High School.

“I’m very pleased,” said Kimura, who’s been at the school for six years.

“I’ve got a lot of time and effort invested in this building.”

He has seen the school grow during it’s life, and said it’s time for it to rise to the next level.

“I’ve seen it through some tough times in all the development and growth,” Kimura said.

“Now I think we’re really poised to take off.

“I look forward to moving Bow Valley forward to become an even stronger school than it is now.”

He hopes to continue the school’s strong focus on technology and guide future collaboration with Cochrane High.

Kimura has 19 years’ experience in education, and worked at middle schools in Airdrie, Springbank and Cochrane before coming to Bow Valley in 2005.
