Arts Cochrane

It looks like I need to do some catching up with the arts news from this past while. Starting a new business has kept me rather busy of late.

Maxine asked that a special thank you be given to the Chinook Film Group for their donation to the Pot Luck Supper held recently. Apparently their name was missed in the thank you list that was put in the paper earlier — for which we apologize. We certainly want them to know that their donation was appreciated.

I’m pleased to report that ACFC will be hosting its first Arts Festival this fall on Sept. 18 during the Alberta Arts Days weekend. It will run from 9 a.m. to about 7 p.m. in downtown Cochrane, from Centennial Plaza up Second Avenue (which will be closed to traffic for the day), and the old Town Hall site.

It sounds like they have some really interesting things lined up — with more to come. Art shows and sales, demonstrations, a treasure hunt, musical entertainment and more. For artists who would like to participate — for show, sale or demonstration — or businesses that would like to be sponsors, visit artsandculturecochrane.com. We also want to highlight Cochrane businesses. And not just those that are arts businesses. Do you have a business where you could demonstrate something; like a salon doing nail art?

Just a quick reminder — if you are an artist or arts business that isn’t yet in our directory, please get your information to us. The listings are free.

On a final note, our latest venture was the entertainment booth at the Trade Show.

Thanks to all the visitors who came by to enjoy our entertainers. Special thanks to the Cochrane Chamber of Commerce for arranging the ATCO stage: Jade Lewis, Alanna Clarke, Katie Dal Pra, MC Dance Studio, Francesca Garland, David Andrew Wiebe, St. Timothy’s sneak presentation of Hook,  John Stanely, Pat Zelinsky, Emily West and friends, Tori Anderson, and Suman Mall. Thanks to all of you for sharing your talent, and thanks as well to the volunteers who worked in the booth.
