Cochrane’s rodeo royalty have been a very busy bunch.

Queen Nicole Schlaak, and Princesses Ashley Eide and Sarah Richards have been busy travelling, meeting fans at events and promoting themselves as well as the town of Cochrane.

The trio are the first ever rodeo royalty crowned in Cochrane and, while they have received much community support so far, they are hoping many more local businesses will contribute financially to keep them travelling and in the public eye.

In November alone the trio attended 45 events and while they’re on a break until Jan. 1, they plan to hit the road again soon after.

Schlaak and Eide said community support has been very forthcoming, but financially they still need some help.

“Most people have been stepping up to (show) their support for us so we really appreciate that,” said Eide.

This March, when rodeo season gears up, the girls expect to be busier than ever, travelling to three or four rodeos in that month.

Usually the ladies take two or three vehicles with trailers for horses. At about $200 in gas a day for each truck and trailer, the trips aren’t cheap.

“If your pulling a horse and a trailer it gets pretty expensive,” said Schlaak, adding they’d like to do as much as possible and not be hobbled by the cost of travelling.

”We’d like to get to as many rodeos as our sponsorship allows.”

While gas and travel expenses are their biggest concern for now, Schlaak said the trio would be happy with any sponsership, big or small.

“We’re very flexible,” she said.

Schlaak and Eide said those who sponsor the royalty will also benefit as the trio’s willing to attend sponsors events, and display sponsors names while travelling.
