Christmas fun at camp

December 30, 2009
By: Rachel Maclean

After everyone climbed onto the back of the tractor-pulled wagon, it launched into motion exposing the campers to the beautiful views of the Easter Seals Camp Horizon out in Bragg Creek.

Roughly 50 campers were taking part in a four-day Christmas camp for adults with disabilities Dec. 23-26.

For more than 28 years campers have been sharing the gift of giving and friendship with each other. Activities range from baking, karaoke, crafts, bonfires, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus on Christmas morning.

Cochrane’s rodeo royalty have been a very busy bunch.

Queen Nicole Schlaak, and Princesses Ashley Eide and Sarah Richards have been busy travelling, meeting fans at events and promoting themselves as well as the town of Cochrane.

The trio are the first ever rodeo royalty crowned in Cochrane and, while they have received much community support so far, they are hoping many more local businesses will contribute financially to keep them travelling and in the public eye.

Slumdog and Avatar and Harry Potter
Cycling through Africa, sandstorm and shower
Cinnamon buns and some java with zing
These are a few of my favourite things.

I was bundled up from head to toe and off I went to participate in the festivities.

Re: ‘Climate Questions Continue’ – Dec. 23, letter

Dear Editor:
Wow! The writer was trying to use science to say that global warming is not occurring, but the message which came through loud and clear was, “We are not responsible. There are no consequences for our actions.” Really? We can emit whatever we want in whatever quantities we want and it will have no effect on our environment?
