Raymond’s star shines bright with homecoming hat trick

It was the greatest night of Mason Raymond’s young life, and the best part of all was that his family and friends were on hand to witness the whole thing.

Cochrane council makes New Year’s resolutions

Cochrane town councillors said their 2010 New Year’s resolutions are to implement the Cochrane Sustainability Plan, restructure Town administration and see some action on Domtar.

“The budget sets everything in place for these priorities,” said Mayor Truper McBride.

McBride, who also sits on SPUR (the group in charge of implementing the Sustainability Plan), said this year they hope  to engage the community with the plan.

Artillery man shells mountains for avalanche safety

Cochrane’s Shawn English had to work during the holidays.

But as a gunner for the Canadian Armed Forces, his duty was to protect the people driving through the Rogers Pass on the Trans-Canada Highway from the threat of avalanches.

The first black president of the United States — Barack Obama — was elected,  the influenza strain H1N1 spread across the globe and world governments converged on Copenhagen for the next round of climate change talks.

Bluessmyth brings in 2010 at the Texas Gate

So, Christmas survivors, just another 360 days or so and we‘ll do it all over again.

A Christmas highlight for me was the traditonal Christmas Eve service at the Morley United Church, which Brenda and I attended.

It was full and the one part that made it very special for me was Stoney elder Wally Snow playing Silent Night on his harmonica. I’ll remember that for a long time.
