Police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a suspect and vehicle involved in a sexual assault.

On Aug. 29, Cochrane RCMP responded to a call about a sexual assault.

In the early morning hours of that day, a female was walking on a rural road near Highway 22 and Highway 8, south of Cochrane.

The victim was picked up by a male suspect, then sexually assaulted.

After being left on the side of the road, the victim flagged down a passing motorist and contacted the authorities.

The suspect is described as being a large adult male, 40-50 years old, with large hands, balding or thinning hair and a deep voice. He was also wearing a dark hoody. The vehicle he was driving is described as an older model, possibly 1980s, light-coloured regular cab pick-up truck.

Anyone with information can contact the Cochrane RCMP detachment at 403-851-8000, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
