A new waste transfer station that will serve the Stoney-Nakoda nation is almost operational.

“We’re still waiting for some equipment and trying to get everyone trained,” said public works manager Neil Webb.

The site, located west of Morley Road and south of the railway  tracks will be open seven days a week.

A grand opening ceremony will likely take place before the end of September.
