Cochrane will be seeing a lot more ink in the coming months.
A magazine, called CochraneConnects, will publish twice a year, starting at the end of the month, covering local events, news and residents’ activities.
Publisher Sherry Shaw-Froggatt said that while CochraneConnects is her second publication, it will have a totally distinct identity.
She also publishes AirdrieLIFE magazine through her company Frog Inc.
“Cochrane and Airdrie have two very different flavours,” said Shaw-Froggatt, adding that Cochrane has always been a community on the radar.
Shaw-Froggatt said that by having experience putting together AirdrieLIFE, she’s already worked out most of the kinks. That glossy publication is now published four times a year.
“All the growing pains and learning curve have happened with AirdrieLIFE,” she said.
“The first issue of CochraneConnects is going to make people go, ‘Wow.’”
CochraneConnects editor Brandi Dickman is also working on making the magazine a success in the community.
“I very happily took it on,” said Dickman. “It’s an ideal project for me.”
Dickman said they have lined up Cochrane-area writers and photographers for the first issue, and will continue working with local contributors in all CochraneConnects issues.
Dickman said CochraneConnects will focus on being a “good news publication” and will start taking on larger issues as its recognition in the communities grows.
“I can’t think of anything better than to tell great stories about great people,” said Dickman.
CochraneConnects will debut Sept. 24 on newsstands and through the Cochrane Eagle.
